Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes is a complex chronic disease that occurs when the body cannot make enough insulin or use it effectively. People living with type 2 diabetes need treatment in order to keep their insulin and blood sugar levels under control.
Insulin is a hormone made by the pancreas that controls the amount of glucose in the blood. Too little insulin means the body cannot absorb glucose from the food we eat. When this happens, blood glucose levels rise, and over time, these increased levels can damage blood vessels and reduce the supply of oxygen and nutrient-rich blood to the body’s organs and nerves.
People living with type 2 diabetes may need treatment to help their bodies better process glucose and to help prevent long-term complications 90%+of all diabetes cases are type 2.
2-4x, more likely to have a heart attack or stroke , than someone without diabetes,50% of all adults with type 2, are undiagnosed. Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) is a progressive disease: as glycaemia increases over time, beta-cell function declines and complications develop. Patients with T2D face significant morbidity and mortality. Compared with people who do not have diabetes, people with T2D are nearly 2.5 times more likely to have a heart attack, 2.5 times as likely to experience heart failure, and are 2 times as likely to have a stroke.
Because glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) secretion is impaired with people with T2D, early glycaemic control leads to better outcomes in T2D.3,4 oral Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA) treatment, RYBELSUS (semaglutide tablets), are used in a primary care setting.
For people who are newly diagnosed, it may be possible to control blood sugars with a healthier diet, and more excercise.Type 2 is amore progressive disease, and most people will require medication, such as a GLP-1 receptor or insulin treatment. a synthetic version, which is called the glucagon, like peptide 1 Glp-1, can be taken in a tablet, which is naturally produced by the gut and is released, when in response to food, when released, GLP-1 stimulates insulin production.
Type 1 is a life long disease, this effects the bodies ability to convert glucose from food, into energy, type 1 develops early in life, starting when the immune system attacks cells, in the pancreases that help produce insulin, people with type 1 require daily injections to survive. Maintaining target blood glucose levels, helps protect the bodies organs from damage.
Obesity
Driving change to defeat stigma and make obesity a healthcare priority
Obesity can seem straightforward to explain. If a person consumes more calories than they need, they gain weight. But the real explanation is not that simple. And it is about more than weight.
Obesity is a complex chronic disease, and losing weight is not just a question of eating less and moving more. In fact, obesity can be influenced by genetics, physiology, environment, job and education, and what is going on in the brain.
Understanding these factors is critical, because obesity is associated with other diseases, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease and certain types of cancer. Not to mention the stigma and bias millions suffer every day.
But with the right care, people with obesity can achieve sustained weight loss that really makes a difference to their health.
Driving change to defeat stigma
Today we know that obesity is a serious chronic disease, not simply a matter of effort.
Together with our partners, we are committed to driving change in how the world sees, prevents and treats obesity. As leaders within the science of obesity, we are working to make obesity a healthcare priority, defeat stigma and support better access to evidence-based care.

Is sugar, ageing your skin, the facts.
Sugar ages us, just as much as sun exposure, a premature ageing process. Excess sugar in our bodies can cause irreversible ageing of the skin. This is called glycation, sugar in your bloodstream attaches to protein and produces harmful; free radicals called advanced glycation end products (commonly shortened) age` ages the more ages you accumulate the more they damage the proteins in your body.
Collagen and elastin, which are the building blocks for skin firmness and elasticity are the most at risk by the ages, they cause collagen fibres to become stiff, skin become dry, skin strength is then reduced, sugar can affect the type of collagen in your skin, losing stability, and structure strength, increases visible signs of lines and wrinkles.
The surface of the skin looks hard and shiny, deep crosshatch lines appear along the upper lip and eyes, and discolouration and hyperpigmentation marks on the skin.
The average daily intake for adults are 90grams per day.
High GI foods and processed are also responsible for deactivating the body's natural antioxidant enzymes, making your skin more vulnerable to free radical damage from environmental factors, such as pollution, UV rays and blue light. this triggers oxidative stress on your skin
Fruits and vegetables, as well as things like dark chocolate and tea, have powerful antioxidants that help protect cells..
visible signs of glycation start emerging around the age of 35, and once accumulation of oxidative stress hormonal damage and age builds up.
high GI foods and processed sugars, high processed foods such as white sugar corn syrup, in processed foods and soft drinks, these increase the rate by 10x compared to glucose. hidden sugars include synthetic ones a diet coke is no better for you in fact its probably worse, when it comes to the skin. Vitamin B1 and b6 help inhibit the formation of AGE`S, bananas, peas and oranges are great sources if vit b6 , whole grains of b1s peptides are essential also.. sleep allows skin to regenerate, this is the time, when our skin repairs from damage.
